The Good News
What is the "Good news" of Jesus?
What is the "Good news" of Jesus?
But first... the bad news
To understand the good news, we must first understand the bad news. God made us to be perfect, but our own mistakes and bad deeds have corrupted us and separated us from God. We call this "sin" and it is a big issue, as it has made us unworthy of eternal life.
Romans 6:23a - "The wages of sin is death
Can't we just be "good enough" to get to heaven
The issue with this question is that we will never be good enough. Even though we do good things, God is a perfect God, and heaven is a perfect heaven. God's standard of "good" is much higher than our "good enough." We all fall short of God's glorious standard, and as long as we have sin in our lives, we always will.
Romans 3:23 - "All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God"
What's the "Good News"
Jesus died. This may not sound like Good News, but it really is.
Jesus lived a life we could never live - Perfect and blameless
Jesus died a death only we deserve - An excruciating death on the cross
Jesus rose again to life and lives forever - Being more powerful than death itself
This was all done out of love for us, because Jesus came to save us!
1 Corinthians 15:3b-4 - Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, and he was buried, and was raised on the third day
How can I be saved?
After Jesus rose from the dead, he, in a way that nobody has ever done, gave a way to become a child of God, become righteous in God's sight, and receive eternal life.
How?
What Jesus says, is as easy as A, B, C!
Romans 3:10 - There is no one righteous, not even one
Isaiah 53:5 - But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was on him, and by his wounds we are healed.
Romans 10:9 - If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.
John 10:10 - I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full. - Jesus
Don't wait another day! Jesus offers a richly satisfying life, now, and for eternity!
